Just across the bay from American Giant’s headquarters is one of America’s great training facilities. Kings Boxing Gym in Oakland has been training champions and changing lives for more than three decades. At the heart of this place is Charles King, the 70 year old owner who still spends hours coaching veterans and aspiring athletes alike and is rarely missing from the gym from the time it opens to the time the last punch is thrown.

Legendary athletes like George Foreman and Joe Frazier have trained there, and even Bob Dylan has had a work out in the ring. Today you might find Olympic Gold medalist Andre Ward training with one of the pros who frequent the place, or sparring with an amateur with high hopes. When you walk in the doors, the energy is infectious and you can’t help but want to put on a pair of gloves and see how far you can push yourself.

At American Giant, we believe it takes hard work to reach your potential, and we want to pay our respects to Charles King for teaching this lesson to all the young people who have stepped into the ring with him and learned something about themselves. In a place like Kings Gym you can find athletes of all ages who have dedicated themselves to being the best they can be in their sport. We want to give a nod to the greats who have worked out in this place, and to the next generation of athletes pushing themselves to the limits to get to that level.

If you’re in the area, check out Kings Boxing Gym at 843 35th Avenue in Oakland, California.

Thank you, Kings Gym for making us sweat!
