American Giant is a rapidly growing, American-made apparel brand and makers of “The Greatest Hoodie Ever Made”.  We are looking for an analytical, motivated and dependable accounting professional to become our Assistant Controller.  This position is primarily responsible for preparing financial statements, managing the accounting team, performing payroll and maintaining internal controls.  The Assistant Controller will report to the CFO and will have the opportunity for promotion to a full Controller role.  We are expanding across the Company and the Assistant Controller will play a leading role in the management and enhancement of the critical accounting functions that support our continued growth.


The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement close and related reporting
  • Lead accounting team to ensure payables, payroll and other bookkeeping functions are performed to the highest standards
  • Plan, direct and audit corporate accounting activities including all financial operations and processes ensuring compliance with GAAP, statutory guidelines and internal financial policies
  • Monitor and improve internal controls to ensure adherence to AG’s cash management and accounting policies and objectives
  • Administer and optimize Netsuite platform to most effectively leverage reporting, payables, payroll, controls and cross-functional capabilities
  • Full ownership of General Ledger including mapping and integrations with Shopify E-commerce platform and third-party WMS
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulatory, reporting and tax filing requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of annual and quarterly budgets, Board presentations and investor communications
  • Perform financial analysis to inform key decision makers within the company including, CEO, COO, CFO, Marketing and Product heads
  • Ad hoc projects, as necessary to drive Company value creation


  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis required
  • CPA required
  • 4+ years progressive experience in Accounting and Finance roles required; apparel/retail and start-up experience preferred
  • 2+ years as an Accounting Manager or higher preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with monthly and quarterly close, including full or partial GL ownership, required
  • Audit experience at Big 4 or regional accounting firm preferred
  • Accounting/ERP Systems experience required; Netsuite experience preferred
  • Proactive and independent – must be eager to drive best practices, initiatives and continual process improvement
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and organized with exceptional time-management skills
  • Advanced user of MS Office
