When we started American Giant, we set out to build clothes for people who live with intention, and look for quality and durability in everything they buy. We started with sweatshirts because, for us, they’re the iconic American silhouette.
Our original designer had a background in product design at Apple, and brought a fresh perspective to what a sweatshirt could be - a utility piece that was sophisticated enough to wear to the office, and built to last a lifetime. We streamlined the fit, custom-made the metal hardware, and spent a year developing heavy, high quality cotton fabric with our partners in North Carolina. The result is something we’re proud of, and it’s the standard by which we measure everything we’ve made since.
