You know the person you call in a pinch? Voted “works well under pressure?” The one who always hits deadline, and never, ever lets you down?

Yeah. We make pants like that.

DESIGNED TO DELIVER,

WITH DETAILS THAT DON'T QUIT.

We asked three hardworking makers—Natalia, Max, and Raina—to put our Ponte Slim Pant, Roughneck, and Wide Leg pants through the paces on a typical (that is to say—crazy) day on the job.

The more sawdust, clay, and beet juice, the better.

NATALIA,

THE CHEF

In the Ponte Slim Pant

SHOP THE PONTE SLIM PANT

As chef and owner of LA’s Woodspoon, Natalia’s day typically starts early with food shopping and prep—and doesn’t slow down until her last cover leaves. Enter: The Ponte Slim Pant, with incredible recovery and holds-you-in stretch that doesn’t let up.

Natalia’s days start with lovingly

preparing ingredients.

I’m very mindful of the durability of what I wear. Most things you buy today, you wash it twice and it’s done—there’s no life in it. That doesn’t work for me.

Natalia’s restaurant has an open kitchen, which means guests get a view of what she’s up to.

To cook for someone, it’s an intimate relationship. It’s one of the reasons we have an open kitchen…I want to see how the guests feel about what they order.

When it comes to transitioning from back of house to front, Natalia adds a vintage blazer for instant polish.

I serve dishes that are honestly made. Maybe they’re not perfect, but they’re honest. I always want to have that.

MAX, THE

WOODWORKER

In the Roughneck Pant.

SHOP THE ROUGHNECK

From built-in cabinetry to custom tables, there’s not much Max Wilson of Max Wilson Millworks can’t carve (or whittle, or join, for that matter). Max puts major miles—and a significant amount of sawdust—on his work pants. Good thing our Roughneck Pant is up for the job, with cotton canvas construction, practical five pocket styling, and stitching that holds up to heavy lifting.

Walnut. Beech. Pine. Most mornings, you can find Max sourcing wood at his local lumber yard.

I’m a tactile person, a tactile learner. The most fun, intuitive way to work is just to start cutting, and see where I end up going.

The joining and finishing process is where Max finds meaning and satisfaction.

It's the problem solving aspect of things I love most. The feeling of fitting a joint, when everything slides in perfectly and it suction fits and it won't come off. That’s the best.

The day wraps with a finished reclaimed walnut sideboard, ready to be installed.

I always think about the future when I build, how something will be used twenty or a hundred years from now, rather than what’s fashionable at the moment.

RAINA,

THE ARTIST

In the Wide Leg Pant

SHOP THE WIDE LEG

Pants that hold up to clay handprints? Check. Raina’s ceramics draw on a range of references—from China and Japan to ancient Greece—and come together in a showroom perched in the hills behind her house. Our new Wide Leg Pant doesn’t just look good behind the wheel, but cleans up for a client meeting.

A solid work day for Raina begins with calendar organizing—and caffeinating.

Every morning I have to make espresso, usually a latte with whole milk.

Raina’s creation process embraces iteration, false starts, and turning missteps into opportunity.

Failure is part of the work process. A lot of times I open up the kiln and I only like one thing—but that’s fine. That's how you refine, get better, and make things you like.

Clients visit Raina in her treehouse-like studio to review final works (and snoop her showroom).

Things change once you’re working with clay. It may take on a whole new life.
